Healing Is Only the Beginning
When did I realise that healing is only the beginning, of this journey? Good question! For years, I thought my healing journey was the final destination. I believed that once I “fixed” myself, I’d be done. I’d be whole, complete, and finally able to move forward.
But the truth is, healing wasn’t an endpoint at all—it was a doorway. It was the beginning of something new, beautiful, and surprisingly powerful.
When I had done enough work to reclaim my life, I remember sitting with a big question: What now? What do I do with everything I’ve learned? How can I use my pain, my resilience, and my growth in a way that matters?
The answer came slowly, but clearly: I was being called into purpose. It was time to shift. To change my career, return to study. Deepen not only my understanding of my own ongoing healing, but also my ability to support others on theirs.
And honestly, this surprised me. At first, I thought my healing was simply personal. But over time, I realised it was also preparation for something bigger—an invitation to step into my purpose-driven life.
Turning My Healing Into Purpose
Fast forward through years of learning, stretching, and a full social work degree—an incredible, challenging, and humbling journey in itself.
In the early part of my career, I found myself drawn to supporting people through crisis. I sat with people in some of their hardest moments, offering whatever stability I could. It was important work, and I will always hold deep respect for those spaces.
But with time, I began to notice something. My heart wasn’t just drawn to helping people survive. I wanted to help them move from surviving to thriving. To support people in stepping into lives that felt meaningful and free.
I realised my deepest passion was in guiding people through their own healing journey—helping them see that they are not broken, but whole and worthy as they are. My path shifted gradually, from crisis response into therapeutic and coaching approaches. And naturally, I gravitated toward the communities I hold closest to my heart—queer adults, parents of LGBTQ+ young people, and anyone seeking to reconnect with themselves and reclaim their life.
Doubt, Growth, and Finding My Voice
Even with all the training, study, and personal experience I carried, doubt often crept in.
- Who am I to guide others?
- Have I healed enough?
- Am I truly ready?
Those questions can feel heavy. But what I’ve learned—over and over—is that healing is not a destination. There is no moment when you arrive at ‘the finish line’. No final certificate that says: Now you are healed enough to help others. Because the truth is, healing is only the beginning—what matters most is how you choose to grow and live from there.
Healing is ongoing. It’s about learning to show up—fully, authentically, and with a willingness to be present, imperfect, and open-hearted.
I didn’t need to have it all figured out to hold space for someone else. I just needed to be real—and that, I could do.
What Guides Me Now
Over time, I’ve shaped my work around guiding principles that keep me grounded in both my purpose and my humanity:
✅ Cultivating self-compassion—helping people release shame and soften toward themselves.
✅ Encouraging exploration—supporting clients in going deeper, asking questions, and discovering their own wisdom.
✅ Living unapologetically—inviting people to embrace their truth and step into their fullest, most authentic selves.
✅ Creating safe, inclusive spaces—ensuring every person feels seen, respected, and supported exactly as they are.
These values flow into everything I do—whether I’m offering therapeutic coaching, counselling, advocacy, or simply holding a conversation. My work isn’t about knowing all the answers. It’s about walking beside people as they uncover their own path from healing to thriving.

Looking back, I can see that healing is only the beginning. It was never meant to be the final chapter—it was the foundation for the rest of my story, for stepping into purpose, and for helping others write theirs.
